Some interesting studies and findings about things related to sex hormones, whether it’s reproductive health, menopause, sexual health and so on.

In medical school I have learned during this semester, that the symptoms from perimenopause and menopause are from high androgens and low estrogen.
This dogma is probably taken as the truth for many, but reality might be a little different than that.
Oral micronized progesterone for perimenopausal night sweats and hot flushes a Phase III Canada-wide randomized placebo-controlled 4 month trial
“Women perceived progesterone caused decreased night sweats (P= 0.023) and improved sleep quality (P = 0.005); it decreased perimenopause-related life interference (P= 0.017) without increased depression. No serious adverse events occurred.”
Also a very important detail: in this study, they were given bioidentical progesterone, not som big pharma chemically altered progestin.
One could speculate – is perimenopause and menopause symptoms really from low estrogen? Or could it be from low progesterone?
Progesterone decreases night sweats & improves sleep in perimenopausal women Peer-Reviewed Publication
“Current assumption is that hot flushes are caused by low estrogen in both perimenopause and menopause, thus estrogen therapy would be effective.” They just assumed that hot flushes are caused by low estrogen levels, thus estrogen therapy would be effective.”
